Meet our next rector: Rev. Jana Whitworth

On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, vestry members of St. David of Wales voted to call Rev. Jana Whitworth as our next rector. Jana’s bio is included below. Big thanks go out from vestry members to the profile committee, all of whom contributed to the incredible profile that captures us so well: Cindy Marvin, committee chair; Karen Dollar; Jeff Hultquist; and Skip Johnson. We send thanks of equal size and magnitude to the search committee, who spent many hours, much hard work, and countless prayers bringing stellar candidates to the table: Holly Bullock-Denniston, committee chair; Cass Cole; Barbara Brecht; Mark Turner; Katie Urbani; and April Wiza. Rev. Jana Whitworth's bio
The Rev. Jana Whitworth (she/her) is originally from Canada, where she learned some French and earned a BA in Russian and a Masters in Library and Information Science at McGill University. When she moved to the United States she made her way to the Episcopal Church through an inquirers’ class. The liturgy and openness to questions together with a conviction that God is love offered an inspired faith. She earned her MDIV from Portland Seminary (George Fox University) and worked as a hospice chaplain before transitioning to full time parish ministry.
Jana comes to Saint David’s from Church of the Good Shepherd, Vancouver, Washington, where she served as Associate Rector beginning in 2022. She loves finding collaborative ways to build community, whether that means theology pub gatherings or weekend retreats. She is a lover of liturgy and the Book of Common Prayer, as well as new and creative worship services.
Jana lives in Washougal, Washington with her wife, Dusti, and two dogs, Phoebe and Idgie. She has three grown children. In her spare time she enjoys coffee, books, kayaking, and live entertainment. She is delighted to be called as rector of St. David’s and is excited to partner together to offer warmth and welcome, to seek justice, and to love one another.
