Our Wednesday night Peace Mass is is another opportunity to experience the hospitality and openness of our community. Each week at 6:30 pm, around 4-10 parishioners gather for Peace Mass: a simple, spoken Rite II Eucharist. This service, developed by our first seminarian intern, has existed for about 4 years and its general leadership has fallen to seminarian interns and more recently the part-time curate.
The service begins with a period of contemplative silence. In lieu of a homily, the group shares brief responses to the Gospel reading, and the prayers of the people are free intercessions. This simple service has been a time of respite and refreshment in the middle of the week for many. Several of our parishioners first visited St. David's during Peace Mass, as the smaller size and mid-week time can be preferable for some.
The faith, fellowship, and laughter of the Wednesday night Peace Mass reflect the same gifts of our Sunday worship: radical hospitality, authenticity, and a relaxed, if slightly more casual, reverence.
After the service, we invite those who have time to stay and share a simple meal together. It's a great time to reflect more on the readings from Peace Mass and get to know each other.
Hope to see you there!
