Village Building Convergence May 28-June 6 St. David's has been chosen as the site of the 2010 Village Building Convergence, also known as VBC10, a major project of City Repair. In exchange for hosting this event, City Repair will be helping us with two of the several projects we have been discussing for some time: a community kiosk meeting circle, and a tile mosaic wall along the parking lot retaining wall. There are lots of ways to get involved. If you are interested in helping with this project or would like to know more, please contact Melissa at office@saintdavidpdx.org or 503-232-8461. To learn more about the Village Building Convergence, go to www.cityrepair.org/projects/vbc.
Ceilidh on May 3, 7:00 pm: What's Ceilidh??? Come and find out! All are invited to bring an instrument and a friend to the first ever Harrison Hill Céilidh (that's pronounced "kay-lee") on May 3 at 7 pm. This free monthly event is an open mic night that welcomes and encourages performers of all styles, genres, and abilities to freely share their music with each other, friends, and the neighborhood. Snacks, fun atmosphere, and, of course, music provided for our enthusiastic audience. Contact CeilidhHarrisonHill@gmail.com or see Dan for more information.

New Hymnals! Those of you who worship with us weekly and sit in the back (what? Episcopalians sit in the back?) know that we're short on hymnals. We have purchased some more hymnals and would like to provide members of our parish community the chance to memorialize or acknowledge loved ones through a donation to offset the cost of our new hymnals. Simply make a check out to St. David's for $20 and enclose a note or write on the check memo the name(s) of loved ones for whom you would like to give thanks or whose memory you would like to honor. St. David's will put a bookplate in a new hymnal according to your designation. A form will be available in church on Sunday as well.
Prayer Shawl Ministry: Calling all those who knit or crochet or would like to learn!! Or, if you know of someone who you think would like a prayer shawl, please contact Dcn. Katharine Holland at 503-641-0676 or hollanddk1@verizon.net. A sample in hanging on the back pew in the sanctuary – they're large & soft & knit with prayers. Also, if you are not able to knit or crochet but would like to help, we can certainly use monetary contributions to offset the cost of the yarn (about $15 per shawl). Checks can be made out to St. David's with "Shawl Ministry" on the memo line.
